After many years of oil painting, I began pastel at the Montreal Visual Arts Center. Even though I followed watercolor workshop with Elisabeth I am devoted to pastel since 2007. I participated to workshops with the masters pastellists Marie-Hélène Auclair, Sally Strand and Claude Texier.
I am fascinated by the intensity of the pigments and the texture of pastel. The different ways to apply it and the variety of papers allow me to give particular impressions according to the subject. Shadow and light are part of all my paintings, landscapes and others. I like contrasts. My favorite subjects are the places where I like to be; in the woods, at the country and at the sea. Stretches of water, sky and perspectives are a perpetual source of inspiration. Working on still life, I choose the objects according to their shapes and the effects light will create on them.
For the past few months I have been working on a more abstract way to express myself. That leaves me the full opportunity to explore and create. My aim is to provoque an emotion to the people looking at my work.
