Biography

Born in Magdalen Islands, Québec, I was 7 years old when my parents moved to the continent in the beautiful Montérégie.

I was first introduced to oil painting in 1999 in the old master’s way. Throughout the years I used acrylic and now my primarily medium is pastel

Artistic Statement

Figurative artist since my debut, nostalgia of my childhood greatly inspires my work.. Going back in my souvenirs, I see my father, fisherman in Magdalen Islands and real sea perch, handling the pocket knife with an incredible address. Under his blade, objects, figurines and animals are born from simple pieces of wood. My fascination in front of so much dexterity was translated by an irresistible desire to create.

The delight that motivated my discovery of Rembrandt’s claire-obscure, the emotion felt in front of Bougereau’s softness of the skin and the fascination originating from Pino’s figure, formed the fertile ground where my visceral passion germinated.

My pictorial search aims at investigating intuitively, of memory or from the oral tradition, other happy days. Having visualized the subject of the picture, I let my feelings reveal the choice of the context, the composition and the colors.

I privilege pastel as the medium the most suited to represent the magic of certain places or tracks of my past which brings back the tenderness of happy moments.

All these inexhaustible sources of inspirations - portraits, still lives or seascapes - connect me with my roots.

  • 2010 Été 2010, 2011, 2012, ‘Picte cyclable en œuvres’ concours avec jury professionnel pour reproduire l’œuvre sélectionnée sur une oriflamme de la piste cyclable entre Les Cèdres et Valleyfield en Montérégie.
